Oil Spill Sampling Kits.
Leeder Consulting offer a range of sampling
kits and equipment to ensure oil spill samples
are collected in the right containers and
securely transported to the laboratory. Our
standard basic kits are designed to be stored
on site and include precleaned jars with teflon
inserts, jar security seals, jar labels, disposable
nitrile sampling gloves, chain of custody
forms, a polystyrene transport pack with a
jar insert and address labels to the laboratory.
Additional optional equipment includes teflon
sampling nets and extendable poles for sampling
sheens, teflon swabs for sampling oily residue,
jar attachments for the extendable poles and
single use cameras.
Oil Spill Sampling Training.
Sampling is a critical factor in collecting
representative, defensible samples. The integrity
of the samples is crucial at each point during
the collection, storage and transport stages.
Leeder consulting offer a range of tailored
training courses based on international guidelines,
designed to provide an understanding of the
procedures required to properly collect oil
spill samples and transport them to the laboratory.
The training also covers the legal aspects
of sampling as well as factors to consider
when planning and undertaking an oil spill
sampling program to ensure the samples and
subsequent analysis will be accepted as evidence
in court.
Leeder Consulting are designated
“Approved Analysts” under MARPOL
73/78, the International Convention for the
Prevention of Pollution from Ships. The approval
is made by AMSA, (The Australian Maritime Safety
Authority) as part of the National Plan to Combat
Pollution of the Sea by Oil and Other Noxious
and Hazardous Substances and is under the Protection
of the Sea (Prevention of Pollution from Ships)
Act 1983.
